Refraction is a community-run distributed music, culture, and arts festival. It first started virtually in 2020 with an online festival that attracted over 500,000 virtual attendees. In 2022, through the introduction of the Refraction DAO, they have continued to evolve towards what they see as a goal: a collaborative, equitable, and fully artist-run system. Refraction is coordinated in part through a $REFRACT community token which they see as a “continuation of DIY history of networked creativity, but superpowered by new tools made possible through Web3."
